Rhythm of Desire

Imagine light in your hands
Bigger than any room you inhabit
Stop the car in the middle of the road
Walk toward the pulsing
Darkness beyond streetlights
What the trees hold
Magical and illegible and dirty
The broken door pulled from its hinges
Doorway without a door
From my car window the world was a wild blur
Lights buildings billboards trees blackness
Stop the car and sit in silence
Look at trees in parking lots
Birds on power lines
The dead animal ripped open
The moon calling you to follow it
Lie in the dark naked and say I’m here
Breathe in wild air
That only birds have touched
Swim deep with them
